Divine Mercy

"In difficult and painful moments, O my Creator, I sing You a hymn of trust, for bottomless is the abyss of my trust in You and in Your mercy!" ~ St. Faustina (Diary entry 275)

Today is the feast day of Divine Mercy Sunday.  Today is the Day that Our Lord Jesus wants us to allow Him to cover us with His most beautiful mercy.  We can allow His mercy to flow through our lives as we place our complete trust in Him.  Jesus loves us so much that He wants this day, more than any other day, to remind us of His "Unfathomable Mercy" as St. Faustina would put it.  He wants us on this day to run to His Mercy and let Him love us.

Please take the time today to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.  Our Dear Lord wants so much to know that we trust in Him.  Jesus made the promise to St. Faustina that when we pray this chaplet, we will free many many souls from purgatory and those souls who are in most need of His mercy and are close to death.  As for yourself, if you can make it to confession today or within the next 8 days, God has promised to not only wash away any of your sins (as normally happens in confession) but that all of your punishment due for your sins will be washed away.  In this way, if you were to die right after you went to confession on this feast day, you would go straight up to heaven.

Another image would be, think of sins as a thorns and each time we sin we push a thorn into the heart of Jesus.  When we go to confession and our sins are washed away, Jesus has removed all the thorns from His heart that we have placed there.  But, even though the thorns are gone, there is left a hole in its place.  When we do penance or suffer for Jesus, these holes are filled in by God's mercy.  By God's Justice, we cannot enter Heaven until all of our sins have been repaired.  On this special feast of Divine Mercy, Jesus has made it so that His Mercy will fill in all our "holes" that our thorns have made in His heart.  In this way, God wants to show us how His love and mercy can cover a multitude of sins!

May God's mercy overflow today for you and may you know how much you are loved!  God Bless!!
